I feel a little bad about these photos. Everyone worked so hard today, but I only got the camera out when they were relaxing at the end!
The rest of the floor has been levelled, the walls have been painted, and many of the ceiling tiles are now pristine white thanks to Jemma, myself, and a couple of mini paint rollers!
With six of us working we achieved in one afternoon the equivalent of perhaps three days work for a single person – so The Kitchen is really Taking Shape.
We had a lot of visitors today, with the sun shining and the doors wide open. Lovely to sense the excitement amongst local residents for a new shop offering something different. If you haven’t already read about what we have planned then it’s worth repeating it here. We will primarily be a base for our (currently home based) cake business, supplying several local coffee shops and chains, film and TV studios. The majority of the premises will be given over to a kitchen, storage and cake decorating area.
But we will also be a shop selling freshly baked fair trade cakes to take away. With birthday and celebration cakes available to personalise, edible toppers to order, and a very limited range of cake decorating equipment (for more see Charlou Cakes – recently relocated to New Road)
We will be up bright and early brewing coffee for the commuters at Croxley Station. We won’t be open all day but when the scones and cake of the day are out of the oven we’ll open the doors and welcome you in!
This week we should see the floor being laid and partition walls erected – so watch this space for more photos and hopefully I will take some when the workers are working!
