Plumbing and electrics have been the priority for Mr K this week – and the pictures tell the story! Good hygiene is of course so important in a cake business and there’s no danger of anyone not washing their hands with five sinks in total!
Meanwhile – cupboards and shelves are taking shape too.

Many of you will have seen the roller shutter blind in place – the new sign should be ready soon too. Lots of questions about opening but of course it is more a question of moving! Filled With Love Cupcakes is already a well established business in Croxley and will be taking its place in The Kitchen along with the Loafkins and a much wider range of bespoke and off the shelf celebration cakes.
But we are also so grateful to those of you who have responded to our questions about how you would like to see the space used – thank you!
Early morning takeaway coffee for the commuters has received a huge thumbs up so we will be starting that as soon as we can. The cake decorating classes and birthday parties that I currently do at home will be bigger and better in The Kitchen. But I will also be introducing more baking lessons, and a new idea – Mother and Child baking or cake decorating – from two years upwards!
There will be a selection of cupcakes, cookies, scones, loafkins and large cakes available daily. And a limited range of cake related goods for sale (including fabulous eggs from very happy hens!) along with our fabulous greetings cards from Sonning Creatives.
Just as it is here the kettle will usually be on! Pop in to discuss a cake order and you’re likely to be offered a cuppa. Never be afraid to ring the doorbell and come and say hello. When the cake of the day is ready we’ll open the doors and you’re welcome to enjoy it by the slice.
Regular readers of this blog will have observed how our ideas have evolved over the months since we expressed an interest in the old Blockbuster premises. Initially we were just looking to rent a bigger kitchen. One that was already fitted out, which would have saved all these months of hard work! But finding somewhere available three minutes walk from our house was an absolute dream come true. And as someone observed just last week it’s like the tardis! So much space and so much potential.
Other people have approached us with requests for a book club, a meeting space for groups and group leaders, hen parties, talks, discussions and an alpha course. We’re more than happy to consider every request so please do get in touch if you’re interested in using The Kitchen.
That’s all for now – other than a quick look at a few of the cakes that went out this week. I am often asked for prices so here are a few price guides. Please remember however that I can usually work to your budget so don’t be afraid to say if that is an issue. There are also special offers and discounts to be had if you are signed up to the newsletter!
