Designing a new kitchen from scratch has been a joy and a challenge. I guess most of us when planning our home kitchen have been limited by space and the existing layout/services. Taking over the old Blockbuster Store however gave us a clean canvas (after some considerable clearance work!) in which to build my dream working space.
There have been many conversations and discussions about appliances, storage and displays and suchlike. For me however The Kitchen had to be about the working space – where I will stand and bake, fill, cover and decorate beautiful cakes. For that reason it all feels so much closer now that the worktops have been installed.

And finally – here’s an example of the beautiful and barely visible joinery that our carpenter has used to make the worktops as seamless as possible …
We’re overwhelmed by everyone’s support and the enquiries as to when we’ll be moving the business across. Thanks for all your interest!
Obviously the events of the summer set us back somewhat, along with the fact we are literally doing it ourselves. In many cases using reclaimed and recycled wood, appliances, brackets, screws, tiles and plasterboard! It’s been a fun family project and that will continue when we’re open, who knows, I may even keep blogging!

Definitely keep blogging when you are open. It’s been great to see how you are progressing. Good luck with everything and I hope you are open soon. Can’t wait for my hot chocolate on the way to work!
